First day:

Day 1. Reception and City tour in Cusco.
The day of your arrival at the Cusco airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign with your name, then we will transport you to the selected hotel, where you will rest and have a coca tea. In the afternoon we will come to pick you up at 1:00 p.m. To start the city tour in Cusco, we will visit the main square of the millennial city of Cusco, the basilica cathedral, the Monastery of Santo Domingo, the Coricancha Temple and the nearby ruins of Kenko, Puka Pukará, Tambomachay and the Sacsayhuaman fortress, built with megalithic stones will blow your mind away. After a wonderful afternoon visiting historical spots of Cusco, we will transfer you off to your hotel.

Day 2. Tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and overnight in Machu Picchu.
The tour in the Sacred Valley of Peru begins at 6:30 a.m. with the pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, then we will visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we will have the opportunity to meet and enjoy picturesque towns dedicated to the work of crafts, ceramics and agriculture. We will visit several tourist attractions in the Sacred Valley of Peru such as: Chinchero (textile market, colonial temple and archaeological site) then we will visit Moray (an agricultural experimentation center) and the salt mines of Maras, then we will go to the town of Urubamba to taste a delicious buffet lunch.
After lunch we will visit the Ollantaytambo ceremonial center, where there are still descendants of the Incas who live in the old Inca buildings, finally we will head to the Ollantaytambo train station, to board the train to Machu Picchu, which leaves at 4: 36 p.m. The train ride is approximately 2 hours to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will arrive around 6:00 pm, where we will spend the night at the selected hotel. Aguas Calientes is the closest town to Machu Picchu.

Day 3. Tour to Machu Picchu «The lost city of the Incas».
After getting up very early and having breakfast, we will take a bus up to Machu Picchu, then a tour will be made with our guide through the lost city of Machu Picchu, for 3 hours. During the tour you will visit the most important sites of this citadel such as: the main religious square, the temple of the sun, the solar observatory, the royal quarters, the temple of the three windows and the residential area. Concluded the tour in Machupicchu optionally: If you booked your additional tickets, you can trek to the summit of Huaynapicchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, this will take a few hours, in which you will be able to enjoy the landscape and take in some impressive views (This visit is without a guide). Then we will go down by bus to Aguas Calientes and in the afternoon we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our staff will be waiting for you, to transport you by bus to the city of Cusco and transfer you off to your hotel.

Day 4. Tour to Vinicunca rainbow mountain.
Early in the morning at 4:00 a.m., we will pass by your hotel in our tourist transport, and then move for 2 hours to the town of Cusipata. Where we will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast (scrambled eggs, cheese, ham, fruit salad, hot drinks, etc.). We will continue for about 50 minutes to the rainbow mountain checkpoint, that is where we will start the hike. Once you reach this point, our guide will give you instructions and recommendations to successfully reach this natural wonder.
The hike up will last us approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes until we reach the rainbow mountain at 5020 meters. On the way we will observe the fauna and flora of the area, highlighting the llamas and alpacas that are in the care of shepherds, dressed in beautiful typical costumes of the region. Then passing through beautiful ravines heading to the highest parts, surrounded by snow-capped peaks (Ausangate, is the highest in Cusco).
Almost upon reaching the top we will observe the change in the landscape, the colorful mountain range of Vinicunca. Arriving at this point between 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Here our guide will explain in detail about the orography, ecosystem and color of the mountain, and then take the most beautiful photos of the Rainbow Mountain from the main viewpoint.
Being able to see the beautiful landscape from 5080 meters is a unique and unforgettable experience, after that we will take the return route through the viewpoint of the Red Valley of red mountains.
Walking on this landscape, considered an Andean desert, will be the last visit to another point in the Vinicunca mountain range. The red valley is an exceptional place to take photos for Instagram. Then we will return to Llaqto, where our vehicle will be waiting.
Then we will have our delicious buffet lunch with a great variety of Novo Andean food. Then we will return to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Day 5. Farewell and air travel from Cusco to Lima.
Having a good breakfast, we will pick you up from the hotel where you are staying and we will take you to the airport of the city of Cusco, which is a few minutes from the center of Cusco, we must be at least an hour before to make the arrangements for flight confirmation, after checking in with the airline that we will fly and paying the airport tax, we will say goodbye and take the flight from Cusco to Lima.

Huayna Picchu is the mountain that stands next to Machu Picchu. It is 2-hour hike to the top. While this hike is on your own, your guide will show you the entry. Huayna Picchu is an additional entrance ticket, that we must secure for you with advance. The ticket is $75 per person.
Machu Picchu Mountain is the other mountain that stands above the Machu Picchu site. as Huayna Picchu it offers also spectacular views, this extra hike takes 3-hour round trip. This is an additional entrance ticket, that we must secure for you in advance. This ticket is $75 per person.
Vistadome Train
The Vistadome Class Service, which is an upgraded train that offers slightly larger seats and windows, some entertainment and snack.
To include the Vistadome Class Service in your Machu Picchu tour by train you need to pay extra 40 USD.

Hotel:
We include a three (3) star hotel and we use, Retama Machu Picchu, Inti Punku Machu Picchu Hotel & Suites, or Waman Hotel Machu Picchu (based on availability at booking). Rooms are based on double or triple occupation, and there is a single room surcharge of $50 US per person if you book lonely. Rooms all include private bathrooms with hot showers, breakfast and Wi-Fi. We could also upgrade your hotel if you like better something more luxurious. Please remind the service in Aguas Calientes is not as good as in Cusco. Below there is a list of potential upgrade choices, if you want any other hotel, just let us know

Packing List
This 2 day Inca trail does NOT include porters. You will carry all your belongings while you hike. Due of this, it is important to pack as lightly as possible. A lightweight backpack is key to feeling good during the trail and at the lost city of the Incas; the great Machu Picchu.

JOURNEY INFO
Arriving to Cusco
The airport in Cusco at the present time is only for domestic flights, so all international travelers by plane must disembark in Lima and go through Customs. Even if your flight to Cusco is the same day by the same airline carrier, you must grab your bags in Lima and then check them back in.
The best way to arrive to Cusco is by air and there are several options in airlines. LATAM tends to be the most expensive, but has the most options and flights.
Expect delays or flight cancellations; due to the high altitude of Cusco, it tends to be difficult to land and any weather inconvenience will stop air traffic.
Bus travel is always available and while the trip can be long, especially from Lima, the buses company such as Oltursa, Cruz del Sur, etc, are very well maintained and comfortable; this option is strongly encouraged if coming from a city closer to Cusco, like Puno or Arequipa.
Luggage Storage
Even though this is an overnight tour by train to Machu Picchu, your luggage allowance is still limited due to restrictions on the train; all bags brought to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu) need to be carry on size.
Any extra luggage you have with you, can be left safely in Cusco at either your hotel or with us at the Incas Path deposit while you enjoy your tour: We will grab the extra luggage from you the morning of your tour and return once you are back in Cusco.
Make sure your suitcase have some kind of identification on them so they are easy to locate.
Altitude
As soon as people book their trip to Peru, specifically Cusco, they start wondering about altitude sickness. The air at high altitudes contains less oxygen than at sea level and forces your body to work harder to get the oxygen it needs. Over several days at high altitude, your body adjusts to the lower amount of oxygen in the air; that is why we advice you to arrive in Cusco three days prior your trek begin or taking a tour of easy physical demand.
With altitude sickness, you may first feel like you have the flu or a hangover. You may have a headache, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, trouble sleeping, trouble breathing during exercise. If any of these effects become severe, please contact our representatives and we will help you get to a physician.
Most of the time, these symptoms will be mild. We always recommend easing into activity slowly, allowing your body to adjust, drink plenty of fluids such as water, electrolites or coca tea: coca tea has been used since ancient times to help prevent altitude sickness, leaves from the coca plant contain alkaloids like the globulin alkaloid which helps creating red cells in your body that captures the oxygen faster, so helping your body avoid the effects of altitude sickness.
Avoid drinking a lot of alcohol it will cause you to urinate more often and become dehydrated, avoid smoking due it will make more difficult for your body to get oxygen and also avoid sleeping pills because it may cause shallow breathing at night, making it more difficult for your body to absorb oxygen while you sleep.
Your healthcare provider may prescribe medicines, such as acetazolamide better know as the brand Diamox and dexamethasone, to help prevent altitude sickness; start medication two days prior you get to a high altitude and continue to take it while you are at high altitude.
Weather
Of course weather is unpredictable. Typically the dry season in Cusco is from April through October, but this does not stop rain from falling in June or the sun from coming out in December, just be prepared; no matter what month you are doing the trek or tour, please make sure that you have rain gear that includes a waterproof jacket, pants, poncho and waterproof gloves.
Travel Insurance
To protect your journey investment, we highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance; acquiring travel insurance before you leave home, is strongly encouraged and very easy.
Vaccinations
The body’s immune system helps protect against pathogens that cause infection; most of the time, it’s an efficient system, it either keeps microorganisms out or tracks them down and gets rid of them.
However, some pathogens can overwhelm the immune system; when this happens, it can cause serious illness
The pathogens most likely to cause problems are the ones the body doesn’t recognize:
vaccination is a way to “teach” the immune system how to recognize and eliminate an organism; that way, your body is prepared if you’re ever exposed.
Vaccinations are an important form of primary prevention; that means they can protect people from getting sick, vaccinations have allowed us to control diseases that once threatened many lives, such as: measles, poliotetanus, and whooping cough.
You may require some additional vaccinations before traveling to Peru; it is adviced you consult to your physician specially if you are taking any trip to the jungle.
