Lake Titicaca Puno Tour 1 day

Day 1: Puno – Taquile – Uros – Puno.

There are two ways to start the 1-day tour to Uros and Taquile: You can be picked up from the bus terminal upon arrival in Puno and taken to our office where you will be until the main pick-up to begin the tour. Or we will pick you up from your hotels between 6:45 am and 7:20 am. Once we arrive at the port of Titicaca, we will board the boat to begin our journey by boat to the first point, which is the Island of the Uros; which we will reach in an average of 30 minutes; on the way we will be able to observe part of the immense Lake Titicaca.

Upon arriving at the Island, we will see a group of people dressed in their typical local attire, who will give us a warm welcome. When we disembark from the boat, we will notice how the islands are floating under the water; At the place we will settle down to listen to our guide who will give us detailed information about how the islands originated, the materials used for their construction and how the inhabitants live there. After the explanation we will have time to take photos and visit the houses of the inhabitants.

Optionally we can visit a second island on totora rafts (S/. 10.00 price of the trip) where you can taste some typical dish of the area or buy local crafts. We continue our journey on a tour of Lake Titicaca with a 02-hour boat trip to reach the natural island of Taquile where we will begin our walk uphill for approximately 40 minutes, heading towards the main square of the island. We will visit the textile museum, its colonial church and more.

We can have lunch in Taquile, lunch is usually a quinoa soup as a starter and a main course based on trout; As a drink, it is traditional to drink coca tea or muña tea, which are very good for avoiding altitude sickness and stomach pain. Our guide will give us an explanation about the history of the island, the clothing of the inhabitants and their main products.

We will have free time to take photos and then we will begin the descent towards the port to board the boat and begin our way back to the main port of Puno, where we will arrive around 5:30pm.
