Colca Canyon Tour 2-day

Colca Canyon Tour 2-day
125 USD Per person
The Colca Canyon tour is located in an impressive geographical formation located in the Arequipa region, in southern Peru. With a depth of more than 3,400 meters, it is one of the deepest canyons in the world, being even deeper than the Grand Canyon in the United States.
This canyon is a place of great natural beauty, with spectacular landscapes that include rock formations, cliffs, and agricultural terraces built by ancient pre-Incan cultures, which are still used today by local communities. The canyon is crossed by the Colca River, which meanders along the bottom, creating a dramatic and picturesque environment.
The Colca Canyon tour is famous for being home to the Andean condor, one of the largest flying birds in the world, which can frequently be seen soaring through the sky, especially at the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, from where tourists can observe its majestic flight.
In addition to its impressive natural beauty, the area is home to several traditional communities, such as Chivay and Yanque, where ancestral customs are preserved, and where you can enjoy typical food and hot springs, such as those in La Calera.
The canyon is not only a tourist attraction for its landscapes, but also for its cultural value and biodiversity, making it one of the most visited destinations in Peru.
To start this 2-day tour in the Colca Canyon, we will pick you up from your hotel between 7:00 am and 7:20 am. Our first stop will be at the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve (Pampa Cañahuas), where we will appreciate one of the most amazing landscapes of the Andean Mountain range, with plains and lagoons surrounded by snow-capped mountains and volcanoes. A natural territory inhabited by native fauna and recognized for its archaeological wealth. The second stop is in Patahuasi, in order to enjoy a panoramic view of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes.
Then, we will stop at the Tocra wetlands, watered by springs. This place offers a unique opportunity to spot camelids and birds such as Andean ducks and flamingos, as well as to observe the local muleteers. We will visit the Andes viewpoint, known as Pata Pampa, a place perched at 4900 meters, this is the highest point of the entire trip. From this summit you can see several volcanoes. After that we will descend to the town of Chivay, where we will spend the night.
After lunch and resting at the hotel of your choice, we will meet again to visit the thermal baths of Chacapi or La Calera. Dinner at a folkloric club where you can enjoy a folkloric show with typical dances of the area.
In the morning (05.30) we will have breakfast at the hotel. Then we will leave for Cruz del Condor, where we will stay for approximately 2 hours. This is a place where you can see the depth of the Colca Canyon in its greatest dimension, as well as the flight of the Condor at a short distance.
On the way back we will see archaeological remains, pre-Inca agricultural terraces and other panoramic views of the Colca Canyon. We will pass through the towns of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, and Yanque.
