It is a citadel built almost on the banks of the sacred river of the Incas (Vilcanota river), currently known as the Urubamba river. It is located at an altitude of 2745 meters, between the Vilcanota and Wayllabamba rivers. Llactapata is still within the famous Sacred Valley of the Incas.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hows_the_weather\"><\/span>How&#8217;s the weather?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The sacred valley is known for having a temperate climate that is very comfortable for humans. Later they were violently conquered by the Incas, who built Llactapata on the foundations of an older Ayarmaca town.
